Courses and Study Plan
After a major overhaul in 2021, the online MBA program has features that all business students can take advantage of.
The Marketing MBA program now consists of 7 core classes and 3 concentration classes, allowing you to complete the program in approximately one year if you attend full-time.
As part of your core business, you will study topics such as leadership, strategy, and innovation. But unlike other MBA programs, all topics are woven throughout the course so that multiple business practices are introduced at the same time, giving you a streamlined MBA experience.
As a marketer, as part of the MBA program, you may be interested in a course on brand optimization.
Here you will learn how to balance brand management with influencer marketing strategies. You will also learn the key elements of brand identity, trust, and brand habit formation. Throughout the course, you will gain hands-on experience in developing a marketing strategy for an organization, applying acquired skills such as market research, identifying target markets, customer market trends, and ethical considerations.
You will find that you get real experience at the heart of your business. The curriculum now includes scenario-based learning activities throughout the curriculum. You will "live" in an interactive story, which means that you will be presented with a situation that needs to be addressed. Then you'll solve them using what you learned in class: skills like critical and creative thinking, problem-solving skills, or interdisciplinary knowledge.
So you have 3 concentration courses on your schedule. Each one explores a different area of marketing, helping you develop a skill set that you can successfully apply in the real world:
- Promotions management addresses the specific tasks involved in managing an advertising campaign, including research, media selection, writing, presentation, and the role of an advertising agency.
- Consumer Behavior and Marketing explores psychological, sociological, economic, and anthropological, theoretical, and research influences. By applying these principles, you will learn how to develop an effective marketing strategy and, ultimately, a comprehensive marketing plan.
- Brand management helps you understand the theories, models, and strategies that enable organizations to achieve their brand goals. Through a combination of current textbooks and research publications, students will be exposed to current and emerging branding theories and models.
For Michael Krupa in 2020, Brand Management was the perfect foundation for an MBA in Marketing.
“Brand management is the class that stands out the most for me,” Krupa said. "This course taught me a lot about the different levels of branding, what a brand really is, and how much more than logos and colors."
According to him, the homework and hands-on learning format help him connect the dots and explore the deeper meaning of the material.
“While the readings, discussions, and assignments were interesting, my instructors were as well,” says Krupa. "I eventually learned that a successful brand can define an organization's unique personality and identity."
If you want to learn more about marketing outside of the MBA program, you can also earn a graduate certificate outside of standard graduate programs. This allows you to list other relevant credentials on your resume with a minimum of additional arguments. If you choose to earn a Graduate Certificate in Marketing, you can enhance your marketing knowledge and add more credentials to your resume with just 2 additional courses.
