© Tampa Downtown Partnership Due to expected stormy weather on Saturday, the Tampa Downtown Partnership has moved the festival to Friday from 4:00pm to 10:00pm.TAMPA, FL - Due to cloudy weather forecast for Saturday, the Downtown Tampa Partnership and the City of Tampa have announced that the River O' Green Fest presented by Grow Financial has been postponed to Friday, March 17 on St. Patrick's Day.
The free festival now takes place at Curtis Hixon Waterfront Park on Fridays from 4pm to 10pm.
"The safety of all our guests and vendors is of the utmost importance," said Linda Remund, president and CEO of the Tampa Downtown Partnership. “Given Saturday's lightning strike, we decided it was in everyone's best interest to reschedule. The good news is that we can now host the River O' Green Fest on St. Patrick's Day. Since we haven't had a public holiday since 2018, it will be a great way for families to start the weekend and end spring break."

River O' Green Fest includes children's activities, food trucks, an animal costume contest sponsored by the Barrymore Hotel, beer and slingshot demonstrations and a wild Irish mix of hockey, baseball and football. New this year, the Freedom Boat Club is offering free cruises on the Hillsborough River, which will be emerald green in color. Click here for more information on boat tours.
Tampa Mayor Jane Castor will signal the greening of the Hillsborough River beginning at 4 p.m. The paint is non-toxic, biodegradable and certified to National Sanitation Foundation Standard 60 for use in and around drinking water. The Hillsborough County Environmental Protection Commission evaluated the paint and approved it for use at the River O'Green event.
Here is the updated calendar of events.
- At 4:00 p.m., Tampa Mayor Jane Castor will signal the start of the Hillsborough River Greening.
- 16:00 to 20:00 - DSM Sports Marketing Inc. throwing demonstration.
- 7:00pm - Animal Costume Contest sponsored by Barrymore Hotel.
