Peloton Seeks CMO As Marketing Head Exits

interactive platoon inc is looking for a chief marketing officer after Dara Treceder, the company's global director of marketing, communications and membership, announced she was leaving the fitness technology company to join the executive roster.

Ms. Treseder has confirmed that Monday, October 4, will be her last day at the subscription-based company she joined in 2020. She is expected to join Autodesk , a software developer and manufacturer, on October 14 as marketing director. .

A Peloton spokesperson said Peloton is now looking for its first chief marketing officer since the company went public in 2019 after Ms. Tresader resigned, The New York Times first reported. A spokesman said Peloton briefly appointed a chief marketing officer in 2016, but a few months later decided to place its marketing work under the supervision of a chief commercial officer.

The study comes after CEO Barry McCarthy, who took over in February, plans to bring Peloton back after a $1.2 billion quarterly loss and 30% drop in revenue in August.

The home fitness business, which saw impressive growth after gyms closed during the pandemic in 2020, has struggled to keep up with demand for connected equipment and interactive classes as gyms reopen and club budgets. consumers are reduced.

McCarthy told investors in August that while the health of the Peloton brand remains "fantastic," he sees a great opportunity for the company to attract more consumers to its offerings, especially when it comes to products beyond a simple bike. Static like a treadmill. , rowing machine and digital application.

"The opportunity we have now is to invest in awareness," he said. "The important thing is that the road to success involves more ups and downs on the board."

Co-founder and CEO John Foley left the company earlier this month, along with chief legal officer Hisao Koshi and chief commercial officer Kevin Cornells. Peloton has no plans to return to the chief commercial officer role, a move that, along with the search for chief marketing officer, testifies to McCarthy's vision to rewrite Peloton's C-suite roles.

A company spokesperson said Peloton's member base grew from 2.6 million to more than 6.9 million during Ms. Tresider's tenure.

"We appreciate Dara and are grateful for all she has done," the company said in a statement. "We wish you all the best."

According to a company press release, Treseder will oversee global marketing, branding and communications for Autodesk in his new role.

Ms. Tresseder, who led marketing for 3D printing company Carbon before Peloton, said she was particularly drawn to the company's multinational reach and its use by those developing sustainability solutions.

“There aren't many Black C Suite technology leaders, so I'm really excited to get started,” she said.
