Beckett said creating a strategic plan is painstaking, but the process of setting goals and objectives shows how much people agree.
The strategic plan identified three major needs: capital improvements, programming and marketing.
Beckett: "The biggest thing they said was signage and branding, website, marketing and promotion, social media marketing. You show those lines in the red, and the top six is marketing."
The new Nebraskacitycreativedistrict.com website features partners and hotels in Nebraska City. It was launched earlier this year to increase Neighbors' online presence on Facebook and Instagram. Beckett said the marketing mission is supported by the Nelson Foundation and the Otto County Board of Visitors.
Beckett: "I think it's great, and there are videos about the history of Nebraska City that are sponsored by OCVC."
The 18-block district includes the KHN Art Center, the Veterans Memorial Building, the Kregel Windmill Museum, a library and an art gallery.
Partsch offered a philosophical vision of the creative zone, with the idea that a community creates art when it feels safe.
Pertsch: “If he's worried about where his next paycheck is going to come from, he doesn't have time to make art. If he is worried about the threat of war, famine... he does not create art. But if his safety and safety While he is in a flourishing place, he can create art. We don't always feel that way. Our personal budgets are sometimes month-to-month, but when we create that sense of culture in our community, I think it's cyclical. It can lead to safety and security, and it gives people confidence that they can do more at work, do more at school. So it's good to have art around you."
The county plans to unveil the new logo on Feb. 7 and install signage in March.
