General Motors and media company Macro announced the launch of the General Motors Marketing Academy, a five-month program designed to train the next generation of multicultural marketing leaders. The program emphasizes business and work skills that enable each participant to thrive in marketing and media success, creating a diverse talent pool of qualified and competent executives in marketing, branding, public relations and communications.

"As part of the GM Diversity Incubator Foundation, we are committed to supporting and growing diverse businesses today and into the future," said Tarshena Armstrong, Director of Diversity Marketing and Development. "As GM strives to be the world's most inclusive company, programs like these ensure the true representation and development of diverse businesses and talent, providing participants with the resources and opportunities to 'excel.'

The MACRO program, powered by the General Motors Marketing Academy, will identify eight outstanding candidates early in their careers for this program-based opportunity. At monthly meetings, top marketers, storytellers, speakers and consultants will discuss topics such as scalability, best practices, market trends, positioning, navigating and building company structures... Attendees will also participate in on-site practice sessions and a workshop to support their professional development. Will be advised by marketing or media consultant.

"It's been a pleasure and an honor to work with GM to create this unique initiative to identify and support leaders and entrepreneurs in brand storytelling," said Stacey Walker King, Chief Brand Officer, Macro. "Our work was launched as a vehicle for authentic media expression for people of color around the world, and I couldn't be happier to play a small role in creating and training these storytellers. Celebrate the enormous opportunities that await them."

Upon completion of the program, candidates will have a better understanding of how to grow their businesses and verticals, as well as a network of cohort members and senior executives and managers to guide them in the years ahead.

Applications for this first program are accepted until April 15, 2023. For more information and to apply, visit GMmarketingacademy.com.
