McDonagh's The Banshees of Inisherin won three awards, including Best Screenplay for McDonagh and Best Actor in a Play for Colin Farrell. Fourteen years ago, Farrell won a Globe for McDonagh's In Bruges, on which he also collaborated with Brendan Gleeson. In his remarks, Farrell thanked the playwright, his colleagues, his children and the film's donkey, Jenny.

"Even though this is the end of it, it's changed my life in a million different ways," Coolidge said of White. "Neighbors talk to me, stuff like that."
Abbott Primary School led the television nominations, winning three awards, including Best Comedy Series. Quinta Bronson, creator and star of the show, won for best actress in a comedy series and Tyler James Williams won for supporting actor.
“It resonated with the world in ways I never could have imagined,” Bronson said, thanking the studios that supported his vision. "But let's be honest. I liked it. That's why I sold you."
Best Drama Series went to Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon.

The Globes were thrown into disarray ahead of an elusive pandemic awards ceremony in 2021 when a Los Angeles Times report revealed that the HFPA, which then had 87 members, had no members of color.

Eddie Murphy accepted the Cecil B. DeMille Award, saying he knew the plan for longevity in show business: "Pay your taxes, mind your own business, and keep Will Smith's (eloquent) wife's name out of your mouth!"
