Want To Buy Local? Heres Where To Shop On Small Business Saturday In Fresno And Clovis

Thousands of people will hit the department stores on Black Friday, but another day of shopping is on the rise. Small Business Week.

The Saturday after Thanksgiving is for local small businesses that don't have a large marketing budget to spend on holiday shopping.

The day was created in 2010 by American Express to promote the companies it works with. It has been sponsored by the Small Business Administration since 2011.

The event is growing in popularity, with independent traders reporting that it has become busier in recent years.

Local merchants are increasingly advertising this day. And this year there are many vendors selling Christmas gifts and socks.

Read on to find out where you can shop on Saturday.

But why buy the smaller ones in the first place?

Small businesses depend on the busy holiday season.

According to Forbes, about a quarter of annual sales occur in the weeks between Black Friday and New Year's.

And the holiday season can determine the fortunes of small retailers. In a survey of American Express owners, 24% said holiday sales determine whether the business will survive next year.

Also, when you shop at local stores, a higher percentage of the money you spend stays in the community compared to online stores.

First, note that there are too many local stores to list here, so go shopping there if you have a loved one.

But there are shops in some parts of the city that make it easy to buy local products. At this time of year, the vendor markets are packed with locals making and selling gifts, especially on Saturdays.

And some companies are doing something special this year.

Who's doing what here?

Clovis Old Town is a popular spot for small businesses on Saturdays. With a mix of local clothing, jewelry, and antique shops, it's easy to wander from store to store.

Also, on this day and on other weekends, horse races will be organized in the districts from 13:00 to 16:00.

Saturday's Small Business Broadway Party will be held downtown from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm in front of the Peerless Building at Broadway and Amador Streets. Broadway will be closed so more than 30 vendors can sell pottery, jewelry, skin care, food and more.

Tickets are $5 and proceeds will benefit a small business scholarship selected at the event. Tickets are available online at The Shop at KLSD.

There is a three-day market on Fridays from 14:00-19:00 with various invited vendors. It will be open on Saturdays and Sundays from 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m

The Gazebo Garden Leisure Shop is open 11am-3pm. Saturday Kindergarten, 3204 N. Van Ness Blvd. The company also has its own shops and cafes.

The free event will feature vendors selling candles, decor, vintage items and more.

This Saturday from 7:00am to 12:00pm, the Vineyard Farmers Market will host a holiday giveaway and crafts with live music. It will be repeated on December 3, 10 and 17

Edible products such as nuts and honey will also be available to farmers.

The market is located at 100 W. Shaw Ave., on the northwest corner of Blackstone and Shaw Ave. located

Chinatown may not look like a holiday shopping destination, but business is in season there. Minimum of 10 promotional coupons from Saturday until the end of the year
