For particularly hardy dogs, nothing beats a traditional vacuum cleaner.
“When cleaning carpets or furniture, use a vacuum cleaner made specifically for picking up pet hair and move it in multiple directions to loosen stubborn hair,” Ray advises.
"Don't forget to remove the base, armrests and side cushions to tidy up the sofa."
Put on a rubber glove
To do this, you'll need a household item that everyone already has in their kitchen: a rubber glove.
Ray said, “Put on a rubber glove, dampen it with water, and place it on the surface of the sofa.
It may not be as accurate as a vacuum cleaner, but you'd be surprised how much hair it picks up.
This also works with a wet scraper or sponge, just make sure you rub in different directions to get all of the hair.
"Just be careful not to use too much water, as it will wet the sofa and may take a while to dry, leaving water marks."
Roll up with a pin
The winged roller not only easily removes pet hair from clothes, but also from upholstered furniture.
The sofa expert said the method is as simple as sliding it across the sofa and then "pulling out any areas where the hair is lingering, just like you do with clothes."
Added: Lint rollers are more effective at removing hair from large surfaces (such as seat cushions and sofa backs) due to their thicker design.
If you don't have a hand roller, you can also use duct tape to achieve a similar effect.
"We recommend using masking tape or masking tape for maximum effectiveness, just be careful not to be too aggressive and damage the fabric of the sofa."
put on your old socks
Instead of throwing away your old socks, turn them into a useful cleaning tool.
“If you lightly wet a sports sock, turn it inside out and put it on your arm, you can remove pet hair from unwanted surfaces,” Ray said.
“Athletic socks work better than regular socks because they are thicker. Again, relax in the water, you don't want to end up on a wet couch."
The sofa specialist added: “Removing pet hair from sofas can be a hassle, but it’s quick and easy with the right know-how.
"So all you have to do is tie up the blanket and wash it to remove the unwanted hair."
